Update (Oct. 27 2019)
Time for an update. I had one hell of a week, last week. My psychiatrist was trying to give me new meds. BUT she also took me off my anti-psychotic. Don’t ask why, because I have no idea. I could feel the difference on the first day. Me being me, I thought “Oh this new med might help, it just needs some time.”. Oh how wrong I was. Three days in and I have a frigging mental breakdown at work. After thinking it over and talking to my therapist, I called my psychiatrist right away. Now I’m back on the anti-psychotic, and I feel a little better already.
Now’s a good time to start meditating regularly again. Honestly, I don’t know why I stopped. It might have just been pure laziness, knowing me. That is another thing that did help me. Going back to practicing mindfulness and meditation should be something that puts me back onto my original path. I’ll keep you all up to date on all that.
Speaking of “up to date”, do you remember my post “Herbs for Anxiety”? Well I finally started trying one of the herbal supplements I’ve never used before. GABA. GABA is a neurotransmitter that blocks impulses between nerve cells in the brain. Low GABA can lead to anxiety and mood disorders. Now do you remember? Good. So far as I’ve noticed, it hasn’t really made a difference. However, supplements do take a while to get into your system and start to work. So I’m going to give it a couple more weeks. That way I can give you the real low down on this supplement.
Just so you know, it’s now been eight months since I quit smoking. During my last quitting time, this was the point I started to smoke again. This is a big mark for me. I thought you’d like to know. Also, I can make a full post about my quitting journey, if you really want it. Let me know.
Reading is one of my favorite things to do. Especially self-help books, for some weird reason. My most recent discovery is a book called “Emotional Detox” by Sherianna Boyle. On the cover it says “7 Steps to Release Toxicity and Energize Joy”. Yeah that really got me interested. I started reading it the other day and wow! It is amazing so far. Needless to say, I will certainly be working on an emotional detox. Sherianna uses a system called C.L.E.A.N.S.E. to help people through this detox. This stands for:
I’ve only got as far as step 1 and 2. There are also a few steps to get ready for the official C.L.E.A.N.S.E. They go like this:
-Limit Dairy (This may be hard)
-Minimize Alcohol Consumption
-Clean up your food (again, may be hard)
-Reduce Distractions and Extra Responsibility. (She talks about limiting social media in this part. That WILL be hard)
-Request and Accept Help
Can you tell I’m a little excited for this book? Honestly, I think everyone should get a copy. This all is another thing I will keep you all up to date on.
That’s been my last week and a half. Quite the rollercoaster right? Welcome to my life. More updates are sure to come.
Until next time, Namaste.
