Count to 10

We've all been there before. We get upset about something, and you can't let it go. A coworker, friend, or whoever looks at you straight in the face, and says something along the lines of "Calm down, just count to ten". Yeah I know exactly how frustrating that is. Personally, I'm usually fine till a person says something like that. There's no way counting will help dissipate your anger. Right?

Well yes and no. No, just counting to ten won't always help you. Yes, because there is a part of all this nobody seems to either know or vocalize.

Deep breaths. Yes it really works.

Next time you feel like your about to spark some anger, follow these simple steps:

-Close your eyes

-Become aware of your body

-Take a deep slow breath in, and then out

-Do this 9 more times, or until you feel more calmed.

Simple and effective. The more you practice deep breathing, the easier it is going to become to come back into yourself. Back into the moment. Don't believe me? Try it yourself.
